![]() P.S I swear I read from the dev somewhere that both merc and legac were completely modable and there some sort of tool available which I can't find yet. I can probably even make an installer for the mod and a mod manager if the main issue is being able to remove the mod for vanilla play. Because I have no objections with servers running mods which require client data. So I guess my question would be, is it just NOT possible to edit core game data or is it just that nobody does it. This change actually would make afterburner pretty essential for moving around as there wouldn't be any trade lanes in systems or gates to warp to and from, the NPCs and the player would have to actually fly there. I would also need to edit the ship item files to modify the afterburner and cruise base speed multiplier so that you are not moving too slowely. The biggest thing I read about this game is the lack of stuff between systems with some tweaks I can fix that by making NPC's actually travel real space to get to places. I can't see my project working without the ability to edit the NPC trade route data and the Ai fleet data files as I was going to actually disable gates and remove them from the system data entierly forcing NPCs to to either jump if they can or cruise though open space. I figured I would make something a little more interesting that actually adds content and makes changes to the original core files to change values for items and ai and so on. There are already enough people I see on the forums over at starwraith modding visuals for backdrops and huds. ![]() I was under the impression the game data was moddable to make entierly new content that both clients would need to be running for MP to function. ![]() Ooo, well that might might make what I want to do a client/server mod. You can mod just about anything in this game visually, but not anything that changesĪnything that would be considered cheating. Yes, you can fly anywhere with just your cruiseĮngines if you want. If that's not what you mean, I apologize for my assumption. I might misunderstand you, but it does sound like you are going to hack the game? I am new to this series so will play around a bit on vanilla first and get a good idea how the Ai moves about and if it is possible to move between quadrants without gates. Upon completing this project I would to start a community project to increase the hull types available for civs and military starting with the military to bring it more in line with the civs number of choices and also add new classes of equipment until we reach a class eight of most things. Likely will have to re balance a few things to work with the new system but that should be pretty easy. I understand simply removing gates is not enough I will have to make adjustments to the Ai logic routines and the add more trade route options. The point of this is so empty space becomes quite lively with fleets and escorted freighters found making new routes to systems. I am toying around with a theory to re make something did for X3 which was making gate access a software module and increase the afterburner and cruise speeds respectively making it so the Ai if not equipped with jump technology must cruise to other systems if that is possible. I come from X3 Universe modding community. Nice, I just came looking to find what exactly is used to mod this game.
